VOC120im Outdoor Impedance Matching Autoformer Stereo Volume Control ![]()
Since 1985 Knoll has been the world market leader for premium sound quality volume controls and stereo interfaces. The VOC120im is a surface-mounted, weather-proof, speaker-level volume control. It connects between the speaker outputs of an amplifier or receiver and a pair of speakers. The 1x setting allows the volume control to be used as a standard non-impedance matching control. The 2x, 4x, and 8x settings allow it to be used as an impedance matching control with up to 16 pairs of speakers and volume controls safely connected to one amplifier. Separate impedance matching components are not required. The volume is adjusted by attenuating the amplifier signal output of the volume control to the speakers. The VOC120im is designed to provide volume control for outdoor or wet locations. It can be mounted on an exterior wall or hard, flat surface, as well as directly on a section on 1" PVC conduit. It's superior design gives excellent protection against moisture from rain, splash, or even in a sauna. Using make before break switching topology eliminates pops and click while adjusting the volume. Installation is fast and easy as the detachable high current connector can be installed long before trim out. The connector can accept 12-24 gauge wire. The Knoll WT6 one stereo input to six stereo output connection strip is available to neaten the wiring of larger systems. Specifications:
Wire Requirements: Speaker wire for the VOC120im should be copper, minimum 18 gauge. Runs longer than 33' (10 m) should be 16 gauge wire. Two wire pairs (left and right) are run from the stereo amplifier or receiver to the VOC120im volume control, then one wire pair continues to each speaker. VOC120im volume controls can be daisy chained together. When "pre-wiring", leave an extra 3' (1 m) at each end to allow easy component installation. |
